Human Resources Manager (FTC)

To manage the UK HR function and team to deliver an excellent HR service to the business and its people.  

Successfully manage the operational and payroll services in the next 12 months, as well as building and delivering engagement and wellbeing initiatives, and implementing a new performance management process

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the People function across our two UK sites, including line management and coaching of two HR colleagues, to ensure their development and engagement, as well as delivery of the HR agenda
  • Coach, advise and work alongside employees and management, providing support across the whole spectrum of people and culture
  • Deal with disciplinary, grievance and performance matters in a resolution orientated and inclusive way, identifying trends and providing solutions
  • Ownership of the UK suite of policies, including designing new policies and ensuring existing ones are kept up to date
  • Generate and present statistical data to help identify people and culture issues
  • Provide guidance and input on organisational design to support the business’ strategic delivery plans
  • Manage payroll administration on a monthly basis, in partnership with the outsourced payroll provider
  • Design and deliver an engagement strategy, including sourcing a new provider and driving actions from key survey data to improve employee experience
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of employment law and people & culture best practice
  • Ownership of the offboarding process including exit interviews, reporting and recommendations
  • Support the HR Director with regional and global projects as and when required

Knowledge, Experience and Technical Skills

  • Strong HR/People & Culture generalist experience in the UK, preferably within a Science company
  • A hands-on attitude to managing and delivering day-to-day BAU work, as well as project work
  • A real team player, who enjoys working in partnership with colleagues
  • Solutions focused and able to implement processes to meet business needs and does not prioritise process over agile solutions
  • Agile and flexible, you must be able to switch between tasks seamlessly
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to build trust and work collaboratively in a diverse team
  • A constructive approach to questioning and challenging colleagues at any level of seniority around people issues or decisions
  • Confident in producing, manipulating, and presenting quantitative and qualitative data
  • Highly organised, with a methodical approach to work and record keeping
