Team Leader - Sample Management

Managing a team of sample management technicians to ensure continuous, on-time support to Analytical Project Managers (APMs) leading to a high quality, proactive and efficient Sample Management service. They will have a good understanding of the regulatory requirement for the traceability of samples in GLP/GCP studies. They will have excellent communication skills and be capable of working with minimal supervision and input in continuous improvement projects will be expected.  They will be actively involved in motivating and developing their staff to maximise performance.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of technicians responsible for the delivery of Sample Management Services to our customers
  • Day to day management of the team
  • Oversee Sample Management processes, take appropriate decisions and provide advice and guidance to members of the team on how to proceed
  • Building excellent personal and business relationships with operational and support teams
  • Confident in effective external communication with the Sponsor/ Site where appropriate
  • Assist management with reviewing processes and procedures and look for opportunities to drive forward process improvements
  • Maintain oversight of the delivery back-log ensuring resources are deployed appropriately
  • Manage KPIs to monitor service delivery performance
  • Assist Business Development in the preparation of Client proposals for additional storage/returns
  • Manage SOPs and Sample Receipt Documentation
  • Coordinate and deliver Sample Management training for new and existing team members
  • Ensure sample integrity is maintained throughout the sample lifecycle including storage of samples

Skills Required

  • Line Management experience is essential 
  • Experience of larger team management is an advantage  
  • Previous Sample Management and/or GXP laboratory experience is an advantage
